LFW: DAY FIVE

DAY FIVE: Wine and navy oversized sweater, Brave Soul at Own The Runway

The temperature dropped for day five so it was back to the chunky knits and I finally got the chance to wear my new Zara coat that I bought in Poland in July (yes, July). While I thought I would be too hot in this outfit when I left the house, I actually regretted not taking my scarf as there was a chilly wind whipping around Somerset House today. My fashion flu abated enough to allow me to swap trousers for my navy silk dress which paired pretty well with this jumper that the lovely ladies at Own The Runway kindly sent me. It looks like it's knitted from tiny ribbons rather than wool, ergo its super soft and snuggly - perfect for the cooler climes of today!

While I'm sad to say goodbye to London Fashion Week for another season, I'm really quite looking forward to getting back to normal - eating lunch at a reasonable hour rather than 4pm, not spending inordinate amounts of time queuing and sitting on chairs with backs to mention just a few things!

Don't forget, you can see all of the photos that I took for Rimmel London Australia over on their Instagram - RimmelLondonAU and hopefully in a future issue of Grazia Australia! If you're reading this over in Oz, I'm actually in this week's issue so keep an eye out...

Goodbye London Fashion Week!

Worn with: black boucle coat, Zara; silk dress, Topshop Boutique; boots, Topshop; clutch, Christopher Kane; sunglasses, Kurt Geiger; necklace, Nocturne; rucksack, Ruxx Bags.

BRIGHTS: DAY EIGHT

DAY EIGHT: Navy and red striped jumper, Boutique by Jaeger

Happy Jubilee! Sorry for my absence for the last few days, apart from shooting on Thursday, I was at Epsom on Friday helping to pick contestants for the style competition with WhatBestToWear.com which was great fun - I'd never been to the races before so it was a really fun experience.

So, technically, this jumper may not be classified as bright seeing as the base colour is navy but let's just play along and go with the red stripes as a bright today in honour of the Queen's Jubilee yes? I picked up this jumper a few weeks ago in the Jaeger flagship - while the sale has yet to kick in fully, they had a few items already on sale, including this jumper, down from £99 to £75, you can still get it online [here].

While we haven't been anywhere near the Thames today, we have been toasting the Queen (repeatedly) in the pub. Even Holly the sausage has got in on the act, wearing her Union Jack jumper.

Worn with: khaki skinny jeans, Topshop; Union Jack socks, Marks & Spencer; Black canvas high-tops, Converse.

Holly wears: Union Jack LOVE jumper, Monsoon.

TRANSITION: DAY NINE

DAY NINE: Neon red nail lacquer, American Apparel

Wearing head to toe black today, blargh. Well, except for my nails, as you can see. I first came across this colour in my friend's handbag one sunny Saturday afternoon a few weeks ago and thanks to my burgeoning obsession with all things neon, felt instantly drawn to it.

On my way home that night as I pottered down Portobello, I snuck into American Apparel to pick up a bottle. The shade is called neon red but really it's more of a really, really blindingly bright coral. While I was in there, I also fell in love with the neon yellow and eyed up the green too. I'm kicking myself now as they were £7 each, or there was a deal if you bought 3, I think for £18. Of course, now they've gone up in price too.

In terms of how good it is, I was honestly surprised by the lack of chipping. I wore this colour all through LFW and it wasn't until the fifth or sixth day that any noticeable chips really appeared. So in conclusion, two very bright thumbs up!

You can buy it online at American Apparel [here] for £9 each or interestingly, Asos sells them for £7 [here]. I will definitely be investing in the yellow very soon.

AUTUMN: DAY FOUR

DAY FOUR: Slogan tee, Wrangler
I have a love-hate relationship with slogan tees but when Wrangler sent me this one as a thank you for going to their Summer Party, I couldn’t help but laugh. As well as being funny, it’s a super soft pre-distressed cotton and I just HAD to wear it at the weekend.
Worn with: Black jeans, Topshop; Gold chain, vintage; Gold aviators, Ray-Ban.

SUNGLASSES: DAY TWENTY ONE

DAY TWENTY ONE: Red Wayfarers, Ray-Ban
So, we’ve already established that I like to buy things in multiples, which can be an expensive habit. This pair of Wayfarers aren’t actually strictly mine, they were an accessory for one of the shots from the shoot and since I love my blue pair so much but I’m not allowed to wear them for a while, I figured this was a good compromise. They’re also part of the special edition range and have a really cool badge print on the inside. Yum.
Worn with: Grey vest, Illustrated People; Grey denim shorts, Zara; Black wellies, Hunter; Green military jacket, Da Nang; Yellow satchel, Asos. Headband, Festival vendor.

SUNGLASSES: DAY NINE

DAY NINE: Red vintage-style sunglasses, Primark
Since I have suspected tonsilitis, I’m not really feeling to have my picture taken today, so Holly the Dachshund very graciously stepped in to be my model this evening.
These are another Primark purchase from a while ago two years ago, possibly longer and I don’t really wear them much anymore as the lenses are pretty scratched up but I love their shape as they remind me of a pair my maternal grandmother used to wear.
Worn with (dachshund): Nothing but a grimace.
Worn with (human): black tee, Asos; Grey skinny jeans, Uniqlo; Black Chuck Taylors, Converse; Blue leopard-print cardigan, M&S; Grey leather biker, Topshop; Black scarf, unknown; Yellow satchel, Asos; Two oversized tonsils.

SUNGLASSES: DAY FOUR

DAY FOUR: Red Heart Sunglasses, Topshop
I know it’s not really very warm or sunny today but my tired eyes still needed some sunnies today after last night’s Ray-Ban party (more on that after the jump) so I picked this heart shaped pair from Topshop. I own these in a couple of different colourways from various places as they’re a little piece of fun in an otherwise conventional outfit and I like a little referencing to Lolita when I’m feeling too old and weary. I picked my red pair to break up my otherwise monochrome pirate-meets-parisian look today. I’m heading to an SATC2 screening tonight as well so I figure these - along with some sequin shorts - can be my attempt at ‘fabulous’, as instructed on the invite.
Worn with: Striped top, Day Birger et Mikkelson; Black jeans, Topshop; Silver necklace, Phase Eight; Black quilted pumps, Office; Black jacket, Topshop; Yellow satchel, Asos.
