LFW: DAY FOUR

DAY FOUR: Neon stripe tee, H&M

You probalby wouldn't know to look at me but I am still dying of fashion flu. I have swallowed so many pills that I rattle as I walk/run from show to show. Once again, comfort became a deciding factor in my outfit for the day. I needed layers that I could peel off, so I started with this fine cotton long sleeved tee from H&M that I picked up the other week and then decided that rather than wear a coat, I could layer up jackets what could be easily peeled off when I got too hot.

Once again, I've been relying on my trusty Ruxx backpack that I was loaned for the duration of LFW by the lovely girls at Push PR. I love it so much that I'm giving serious thought to buying one. I forgot how nice it is to be able to evenly distribute the weight between both shoulders - especially useful when you feel as grim as I do plus the straightened sheepskin on the front is incredibly comforting to stroke or cuddle when I'm feeling particularly horrific at times. I never thought I could become emotionally attached to a backpack in such a short space of time but fashion week does funny things to people.

Worn with: sunglasses, Kurt Geiger; leather jacket and black jeans, both Topshop; green cape jacket and studded loafers, both Zara; gold necklace, Dorothy Perkins.

BRIGHTS: DAY ELEVEN

DAY ELEVEN: Flatforms, House of Holland x Superga

At last, a brief respite from the pissing rain that has plagued London for the last week. I'm pretty sure that my calendar and everyone around me are lying when they say it's June, it feels more like October at the moment.

Thanks to the aforementioned rain, my brand new flatforms have been hiding in the wardrobe in their box until now. I love a good flatform - ever since my Underground creepers came in to my life, it has been transformed. Unable to wear heels (thanks, kneecap), these are the one way that I can properly add some height without falling over or dislocating something.

I spotted these House of Holland limited edition Supergas at the Schuh press day and I essentially made a beeline for them so I was very excited when they dropped in soon after and the lovely Dom from Schuh gifted me a pair.

Now, you're probably wondering what exactly is bright about them, right? Well, you can't see from the photo above but check out the foxy foxing on these babies:

Its like a rainbow on my feet! Or as one of my male friends pointed out, they look remarkably like a shoe version of Refreshers. You can pick up a pair at Schuh [here], I'm eagerly anticipating the polka dot versions that are dropping in a few weeks.

Worn with: floral tee, New Look; necklaces, H&M; leather jacket, Topshop; Khaki skinnies, Topshop.

BRIGHTS: DAY EIGHT

DAY EIGHT: Navy and red striped jumper, Boutique by Jaeger

Happy Jubilee! Sorry for my absence for the last few days, apart from shooting on Thursday, I was at Epsom on Friday helping to pick contestants for the style competition with WhatBestToWear.com which was great fun - I'd never been to the races before so it was a really fun experience.

So, technically, this jumper may not be classified as bright seeing as the base colour is navy but let's just play along and go with the red stripes as a bright today in honour of the Queen's Jubilee yes? I picked up this jumper a few weeks ago in the Jaeger flagship - while the sale has yet to kick in fully, they had a few items already on sale, including this jumper, down from £99 to £75, you can still get it online [here].

While we haven't been anywhere near the Thames today, we have been toasting the Queen (repeatedly) in the pub. Even Holly the sausage has got in on the act, wearing her Union Jack jumper.

Worn with: khaki skinny jeans, Topshop; Union Jack socks, Marks & Spencer; Black canvas high-tops, Converse.

Holly wears: Union Jack LOVE jumper, Monsoon.

BRIGHTS: DAY FOUR

DAY FOUR: Neon striped tote, Marks & Spencer

Another hot, hot day in London and I figured it was finally time to bust out my Marni at H&M dress I bought a few months ago [here]. About bloody time too. With all of the heat and colour, I figured it was time to finally change bags from my little black satchel to something that allows me to carry a big bottle of water in it on my commute plus was a little more summery, so I grabbed this tote from good old M&S that's been hanging around on my bag rack for a while. It's a great size for everyday lugging and the bag itself is very light, although it does mean that it's tempting to fill it to the brim with stuff that I really don't need to carry.

Another plus is that I like the way that the stripes clash with the spots of my dress for a bit of a print mashup. You can pick up this bag for a very reasonable £22.50 [here] or a slightly more subdued pink version [here].

Worn with: Silk spotty dress, Marni at H&M.

TRANSITION: DAY NINETEEN

DAY NINETEEN: Blue striped knit, River Island

The sun came out again on Sunday, so to celebrate the the last few hours of glorious weather before it all goes downhill this week - I mean, snowing at Easter? You've got to be kidding me - I whipped out another purchase from my night of influenced shopping last week. Again, another pastel. WHAT'S HAPPENING TO ME??

I don't know how it happened but not only was I wearing pastels again, I'd somehow ended up wearing more colour than I ever have - pink chinos, the blue sweater and a yellow bag. My multi-hued look definitely got some stares as we pottered around the park.

Worn with: pink chinos, Zara; grey vest, American Apparel; Yellow satchel, Asos; tortoiseshell Wayfarers, Ray-Ban.

TRANSITION: DAY SIXTEEN

DAY SIXTEEN: Neon stripe tee, Giles by Giles Deacon for New Look

More sunshine! Hurrah! With a morning full of appointments in town, I figured it was only fair to play another round of blind-the-commuter with this striped neon tee from Giles Deacon's range for New Look. This is from the debut menswear collection from a few years ago - I just cut out the neck to make it fit better, although it's doing something funny in this photo, as is my mouth.

You know, for someone who wears a lot of black and grey, this whole new found love of neon is a little disconcerting...

Worn with: grey skinny jeans, Topshop; black pumps, Office; studded blazer, Zara; metallic leather bag, Topshop; degradé wayfarers, Ray-Ban

TRANSITION: DAY TWO

DAY TWO: Double stripes

Okay, so I'm not technically doing anything new here or wearing anything new but one of my fashion resolutions for 2012 was to buy less and buy better, plus to really take stock of my wardrobe. Sometimes, I get a little bored of Breton stripes so I thought a fun way to liven them up a bit would be to layer two of my old stripey tops, in this case my fine knit recycled Zara jumper over my favourite H&M long-sleeved tee. I like the way the white stripey sleeves stick out and mix it up from regular stripes.

This kind of layering is also great for the chilly weather at the moment - it gives a streamlined silhouette while keeping me toasty because as much as I love chunky knits, sometimes you want to wear something with a bit more shape that will fit under a slimline coat. More on that soon...

Worn with: Black Breton stripe jumper, Zara; White Breton stripe tee, H&M; Grey jeans, Miss Selfridge.

SUNGLASSES: DAY TWENTY SIX

DAY TWENTY SIX: Cream and tan striped sunglasses, Warehouse
Sorry sorry sorry for the delay in posting but I have a good reason. As you may have noticed, I am not alone in the photo above. Pictured with me is my very dear friend Trina who I only see once or twice a year since she decided to up sticks and move to Vancouver. We spent the whole day on a whirlwind of shopping and by the time we got home, we were so exhausted that all we could do (apart from watch the England game) was eat pizza and lie down.
These sunnies are from Warehouse, last summer. As you may have realised, I also really like stripes so it kind of makes sense that my love of two tones extended to my sunglasses collection, dont you think? Trina is rocking a lovely pair of black Coach sunnies. Inspired by 30 Days of Sun (coughcough), she ended up buying three new pairs in New Look. For another look at this pair from Warehouse, click through the jump at the bottom of this post.
Worn with: Green military jacket, Da Nang; White tee, Asos; Leather panel leggings, H&M; Pewter woven ballet pumps, Topshop; UFO scarf, Unique; Yellow satchel, Asos; Ant necklace, Links of London.
