LBD x LFW DAY ONE
DAY ONE: STYLE STANDARD CLEO SILK DRESS, SELECTED FEMME
So, day one of LFW has dawned and with it a busy schedule of shows and presentations. With that in mind, comfort was a key factor today so I picked the Style Standard Cleo silk dress from Selected Femme to form the basis of my outfit. Luckily the sun has finally come out and it seems that the cold snap has, err, snapped just in time (although I confess, I am wearing thermals underneath - just in case!)
For a relaxed day look, I've gone for a monochrome vibe - I added a silky pyjama-style top from Topshop over my dress as an extra layer and in keeping with my monochrome look, added comfortable creepers from Underground London - they add height without the pain of heels. Doubly important when you're on your feet all day but still want to be able to look over other peoples' heads.
To keep warm, I'm wearing my favourite leather sleeved Zara coat and then glamming up with my accessories - my big Baroque Prada sunnies are perfect for hiding behind and I've pulled my big Chanel out from the wardrobe to lug all of my gadgets, invites and other LFW essentials.
Finally, for a hint of colour I've added my big, chunky perspex and neon ribbon necklace from H&M - great for adding a pop to another otherwise dark outfit.

BRIGHTS: DAY TEN
DAY TEN: Green spotty silk scarf, Marni at H&M
I'm getting really, really bored of the rain. And the cold. And the wind. Not only is it messing with my hair, it is seriously starting to mess with my best laid wardrobe plans. I should be frolicking somewhere in technicolour, instead I'm drawn back to the monochrome ways of winter. If I didn't know better, I'd think it was October.
Everything that I've bought for the season has so far had one or maybe two outings if it's been lucky. There are sandals sitting in boxes in my wardrobe, untouched. This makes me monumentally sad.
I'm doing my utmost to cheer myself up with clashing patterns and colours but I'm not sure if it's working. This scarf is from the Marni at H&M collection from a while ago - this particular one was a gift from the PR team at the press viewing of the collection, I never saw the green one in-store on my morning of shopping madness but then again, I had my eyes firmly on the prize. Or rather, my shopping list.
Worn with: Neon stripe tee, Giles at New Look (menswear); sad face.

TRANSITION: DAY ELEVEN
DAY ELEVEN: Silk pajama style top, Marni at H&M
Sorry for the absence, I had some very sad news on Friday and didn't really feel like blogging, plus what I was wearing was heavily wintery, somewhat matching my mood to the grey skies.
Come Saturday, I was feeling a bit chipper, what with the little bit of sunshine before the pissing rain took hold I decided it was time to try out another piece from my Marni at H&M haul. On a side note, after several fittings of the lilac and gold brocade trousers, I made my peace with them and decided that unless I was willing to drop the money (that I don't have) to get them altered, they would end up consigned to the back of the wardrobe and thus it was time for them to go back to the store, which they duly did.
So instead, I figured it was time to wear my silk patterned pajama top. I was a bit apprehensive as I thought it might look like I'd literally rolled out of bed but I threw caution to the wind and I have to say, this is officially now one of my comfiest pieces and as soon as the weather improves, it'll be coming out to play again.
Worn with: denim shorts, Zara; Black opaques, Wolford; Biker boots, New Look.

TRANSITION: DAY SIX (again)
DAY SIX: Silk shorts, Marni at H&M
So, as I said in my last post, I wanted to wear my Marni at H&M shorts to see how they'd blend into my existing wardrobe. While silk shorts might conjure up images of hot sunny climes, they're totally wearable in colder weather when teamed with the right things. Of course, this weekend was surprisingly warm (not warm enough for bare legs) but warm enough to get away with the shorts.
I'd been planning on wearing them with a white tee and an oversized cardigan but somehow, the look didn't come together. I was having a bit of an off day, so maybe I need to revisit that combination when I'm having a better day. Instead, I paired them with a couple of favourite staples to ease myself in.
Worn with: grey cashmere sweater, Gap; Necklace, Nocturne; Black suede creepers, Underground; Leopard laptop case, Home by Diane Von Furstenberg.
